Bethesda, MD - Graphical Networks LLC, today announced the release of netTerrain 3.0., which includes a brand new web based data entry engine and support for granular permission levels, among other major improvements.

Data Center and IT Inventory Management

Graphical Networks netTerrain TM solution is a Data Center and IT Inventory Management solution that simplifies the visualization, management and documentation of the entire Enterprise IT landscape.

Some of the challenges that Graphical Networks solves include:

- Managing environmental capacity, such as floor space, rack occupancy, power consumption and more
- Simplifying the trouble shooting processes of Data Center operations and reducing the Mean Time to Repair
- Automating the process of Network and IT documentation in a multi-user, concurrent, web-based environment
- Streamlining the install, move, add, delete, and change processes for the IT infrastructure across multiple sites
- Improving impact analysis at the component, system, service and business levels
- Reducing costs and improving resource management of assets

Some of the new features that are available to new users or customers upgrading from version 2.9 include:

  • Integration and Importing
    • Improved bulk import spreadsheet with support for coordinate importing and additional entities
    • Integration toolkit alarms now displayed at physical level
    • New improved VCenter adapter
    • New Spectrum adapter (using Spectrum report outputs)
  • Visualization, Usability and UI
    • Users can now edit, add and delete objects directly from the browser (based on security level)
    • Circuits can now be displayed at physical level
    • Equipment and card backplane now show cable connections
    • New filters to hide/show circuits and switch rack displayed fields by occupancy/power usage
    • New shortcut keys added to web visualization engine
    • Displayed fields can be rotated any angle
    • Multiple displayed fields are now available for most entities
    • Multi-tabbed forms on browser for better editing capabilities
  • Modeling
    • Support for reference node position modeling
    • Users can now add basic shapes, watermarks, documents and comments on the diagrams
    • Networks and Circuits now support easy to use custom fields
    • Networks can now be modeled to represent any object and override the image based on type
    • New fields for device modeling
    • New Line style support for cables and circuits
    • Support for custom lookup values for select entities
    • Modeler improvements, including new alignment buttons
  • Security, API and other improvements
    • Granular permission levels (a user can have different permission levels per site or per network)
    • Improved security policies
    • New user activity logs (logins, failed logins, etc)
    • Improved themes support for thick client
    • Copy/paste and cut/paste operations now available from the browser
    • Several minor improvements and fixes
