Along with all the traditional Data Center Infrastructure Management capabilities, netTerrain offers full-fledged IT Inventory Management and Cable Management features.
Our Inventory suite includes modules for Network Topology Mapping, Cable Management, Circuit Management and Circuit Layout Records (CLRs), Dynamic Connectivity Views, Device and Asset Management and the visualization layer to provide diagrams to navigate from any level of the Network or Asset hierarchy down to the equipment subcomponent level. Our new layering feature provides the ability for users to enable or disable data and/or power connectivity views at the cabinet, room or device backplane level.
Network Topology Visualization and Management
With netTerrain, users can create any type of Network with a few clicks.  This is a useful feature for Network Managers. Once networks are created in netTerrain and devices mapped to them, users can:
- Track all necessary device and link attributes by users, technology, protocol or any other attribute
- Get real-time statistics for network topologies and its components
- Bridge the gap between the Physical Data Center view and the Network view by simply double – clicking on a device (to instantly jump from the network to the physical view back and forth)
- Filter Networks by type and change icons, colors, link thickness or any other visual cue by any attribute value
- Aggregate network statistics and visualize them
Cable Management
 Users can Identify, track and report all power and data cables, their point-to-point connectivity and their endpoint details, including termination ports, connectors, parent interfaces, cards and devices.
- Track copper, fiber or any other cable type by any attribute, such as user, tag #, connector, etc
- Create shortest physical path views (dynamic CLRs) to trouble shoot end-to-end connections faster
- Filter cables by data or power and view connectivity at the floor plan or cabinet level
- Create "What-if-scenarios" to understand the impact of a change in data or power connectivity
- Aggregate and report on port availability, fiber and copper usage and other capacity planning measures
Circuit Management
With netTerrain, organizations can manage circuits of any type (layer 1 to layer 7), create custom fields and create Circuit layout Records (End-to-end circuit traces) on demand. netTerrain can even model the connection matrix inside a switch, so that users exactly understand how a circuit is rerouted through a network.
- Track circuits by any attribute, such as user, bandwidth, protocol, etc
- Model circuit cross connection for SONET / SDH and ATM networks with TELCORDIA compliant hierarchies
- Visualize the entire circuit path from the Region down to the timeslot or channel level
- Visualize and filter circuits by any attribute, changing link color or thickness based on any value
- CLRs for static circuits support primary and protected paths and displays for each leg the entire physical and logical hierarchy starting at virtual channel, port, card, device and up to the site level
- Users have the ability to list affected circuits for a selected device, card, port, conduit, duct, cable trunk or cable
Dynamic Connectivity Views
Select one or multiple devices and request a dynamic connectivity view to display all affected and connected devices. Dynamic views can include filters for power, data or mixed connectivity and can be launched for individual equipment or entire cabinets, rooms or floors.
IT Asset Management with Template based Equipment
 netTerrain's best of breed IT asset management tracker helps users visualize, find and locate assets of any category (computers, routers, servers, power equipment, any electronic equipment or even non-IT equipment). For each asset, users can track all subcomponents (cards, slots, ports) and its connections to networks, power, peripheral devices and any inside or outside plant element. netTerrain is very automated and feature-rich, when it comes to modeling and displaying device data:
- When importing or creating device instances, all subcomponents (slots, ports, channels) are created automatically
- Users can manage the location, attributes and state of every device, slot, card or port in real-time
- With netTerrain’s device modeler users can create new device types in minutes
- Track IT asset data by any custom field or built-in attributes such as Manufacturer, Model, Company Contact, User/Owner, Department (business unit), Barcode, Purchase Order Number, Lease Agreement and Expiration Date, etc
Full Inside and Outside Plant Management
netTerrain has the ability to document an organization's complete IT and Telecom infrastructure: Inter and Intra-building equipment and connectivity such as conduits, inner ducts, splice boxes, termination wiring blocks on the wall, panels or fiber and copper wiring as well as power termination devices (fuse panels, breakers, etc). Users can also map devices to wall jacks and document the power connectivity at any level.
